Born on December 15, 1981, Max Michel was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Growing up, he enjoyed many sports, but it was in 1991 that he discovered his passion for shooting when his father introduced him to the competitive sport of practical shooting. In the years that followed, Michel proceeded to shatter most of the records held by the top juniors in the nation. Michel’s prominence in the Practical Shooting arena made him a top recruit for the USAMU’s Action Pistol Team, and in 1999, he began his career as an Army shooter and trainer.
Today, Max Michel, Jr. is one of the most dominant shooters in the world. His training methods and focus are beyond compare and have earned him a well-earned reputation as a top-tier athlete and instructor. He is the current International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) World Champion (XVII, USA) as well as the only shooter in history to hold seven World Speed Shooting Championships. Michel also owns multiple World Speed Shooting records and is a 15-time U.S. National Champion. He is the only action shooter to win all USPSA Area Championships in the same season (2010) as well as the only action shooter to hold a Guinness World Record. As an international competitor, Michel has represented the United States in the last six International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) World Shoots and returned home each time with team gold medals. He will once again represent the USA in the upcoming World Shoot (XVIII, France).
