SEMINAR: Hunting The West - proven tactics for big-game adventure
Seminar Summary:
A 19-year licensed Montana hunting guide and a veteran speaker of over 600 seminars, Chad Schearer will encourage Charlottes' seminar attendees to plan and execute their own hunting adventure in America's West. He will provide information about overcoming logistical obstacles, choosing whether or not to hire an outfitter, finding the best areas for the game they wish to pursue, and maximizing the odds and experience for their money by learning proven tactics to use while afield.

The main portion of the seminar will focus on specific tactics for the West's varied cast of big-game animals. Should a hunter spot-and-stalk an elk or bugle one in? Chad will tell the audience how to identify the best tactic for a scenario and then how to pull it off. Should a prospective black bear hunter hunt them over bait? What is the best way to field judge an antelope on the hoof? Schearer will reveal the tricks that have made him one of the most reputable outfitters in the business.

Lastly he will focus on guns, bows and optimal equipment for the hunt. Of course, he thrives on audience interaction, and a lively question and answer session nearly always concludes his entertaining, informative seminars.

The proudest of all hunting traditions comes to the NRA Annual Meetings on Saturday, May 15 at 2 p.m. Journey along with a master storyteller to a place that has been a dream destination for American sportsmen for over a century, a place incredibly rich in the lore of guns, wild game and adventure. Over the course of more than 100 safaris spanning three decades, Craig Boddington has explored more of this vast continent and pursued more of her diverse game than any other hunter in history. The record he has compiled—countless magazine articles, books, videos and a long-running TV series—has inspired hunters worldwide to take up the torch.

Boddington's presentation will explore the landscape of African hunting in a fast-paced mix of on-the-ground video, stunning wildlife photography and expert commentary, all designed to evoke the feel of the safari and to answer questions of those who dream of their own African adventures.

Moderator for the session is John Zent, Editorial Director of NRA Publications and a veteran of eight African safaris. "Once a hunter has been there, Africa will be in his or her blood forever," says Zent. "It's a big decision, of course, and we want to help NRA members give it due consideration."

Concealed Carry Issues and Equipment

Date:

Time:
Location:
Friday, May 14, 2010
Saturday, May 15, 2010
2:00pm
Charlotte Convention Center, 217A/B
Moderator: Glen Hoyer
SEMINAR: Concealed Carry Issues and Equipment
This is an illustrated lecture and demonstration program, which is directed to both officers and civilians who carry handguns concealed during the course of their daily activities.

Traditionally, little, if any, time has been spent on the subject of Concealed Carry.

In the past, it was often assumed that proficiency on the range transfers to the ability to successfully carry, conceal, and ultimately produce a firearm under the stress of a life-threatening situation.

Thankfully, for the last several decades, the flaws in such thinking have become more obvious and people (both civilians and law enforcement officials) have recognized the need to be more critical in their equipment selection and more comprehensive in their training with it.

This program will deal with overall concepts as well as the building block-like components that must be considered in order to successfully carry and produce a firearm from a concealed location on and (in some cases) off the body.

From gun and holster selection to carrying environments and activities; from clothing to physical shape and conditioning; from women's issues to accessories; we will look at this subject from these prospectives and more, in order to come up with basic guidelines to serve the audience in both studying and selecting equipment and employment methods with a more critical (and informed) eye in the future.
